Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Question: Can I bring a picture of the hairstyle I want?

Answer: We encourage you to bring any ideas you have for a style or color. It helps us understand what you are trying to achieve. Sometimes though, the particular style you have selected may not suit the shape of you face or will demand a lot of product and time to achieve that look. If that is the case, we may show you elements of the style that you like that work for you and help you pick something that will make you shine.

Question: Can I get just a trim or do I have to do a whole haircut?

Answer: A trim is a haircut. It involves the same amount of skill and technique to take ½ an inch off and blend it as it does to cut 4 inches. You are paying for the stylist talent and professional time. It is important that you trim your hair and shape it every 4 to 8 weeks depending on the length of hair and the style. Your hair is dead from the moment it leaves your scalp and grows at different rates. It needs conditioning and regular care to keep it healthy. The ends get damaged and start to fray and look ragged without appropriate care. A regular haircut (or trim if you are concerned about losing length) keeps hair at its healthiest and promotes luxuriant growth.

Question: How much do I tip?

Answer: Gratuity is always appreciated. 10 to 20% is common in the service industry and should reflect how happy you were with the service.

Question: Do you have group rates?

Answer: We will give 10% off single services for groups of 5 or more booked together and held with a 20% non-refundable deposit. We do not discount our spa packages for groups as they already contain a discount. Our prices are extremely competitive for the area and we give great value for the money. The same spa services will cost quite a lot more at the other comparable day spas in town, even with their discounts.

Question: Can we have a private party at the spa?

Answer: Yes! We love parties.

Question: Do you serve wine?

Answer: No we don't serve alcohol because we do not have a liquor license but you are welcomed to bring your own bottle as long as you sign a waiver.

Question: If I got a gift certificate for a pedicure but I'd rather get a massage, can I change it?

Answer: Yes, we change the certificate to the dollar amount that the person paid for and you can apply it to the payment.

Question: Can I split up my spa packages?

Answer: No, all services must be done on the same day; otherwise you lose the discounted price.

Massage Questions

Question: During a massage, do I have to take all my clothes off?

Answer: No. You can undress to your comfort level but keep in mind that the therapists cannot go under clothing. So if you are a man and wearing long boxer shorts, it is recommended that you pull them up higher so the therapist can massage you upper leg muscles. For women, it is best if they remove their bra but if you are uncomfortable, then keep it on and we'll work around it. The therapist is trained in draping techniques and will always keep covered all the areas that would normally be covered by a swimsuit. Our main goal is to make sure you are relaxed and comfortable during your massage. Speak to your therapist and she will help you.

Nail Service Questions

Question: What if I have diabetes, can I still get a pedicure or manicure?

Answer: That is a tricky question. We recommend that you get your nail care done by a podiatrist. While it is legal for us to perform this service in SD, diabetes compromises your ability to heal from wounds, you have a loss of sensation and numbness and lose the ability to feel heat. Those factors make a pedicure unsafe for you. By preventing you from feeling heat, we could accidentally scald you with hot water in the pedicure tub. We cannot trim your nails because you could be accidentally nicked and it can lead to uncontrollable bleeding or a wound that won't heal due to a compromised circulatory system. The scrubs used to exfoliate the skin can allow bacteria so go into your hair follicles and cause an infection that your body would have a hard time responding to. Due to all these risk to your health, we do not perform these services on clients with diabetes.
